In
winter and spring months I give personalized fly tying classes at my
digs in Winthrop, MA. I have classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced experience levels. There are classes that focus primarily on fresh water or salt water, and some that offer a mix of the two.
The emphasis is on innovative and imaginative tying techniques and patterns, with a concentration on patterns that I have originated. Suggestions from students are welcome, and some flexibility can be worked into the classes to accommodate individual interests. Always a lot of fun.

The cost for classes is $50.00 per person unless otherwise noted below.
To sign up for a class, please contact me. In your message, indicate the date you're interested in and feel free to ask any questions you may have. I will respond with instructions on how to send your deposit and directions on how to get to the class site.
Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of a class date will receive a full refund of any deposit. For cancellations made within 30 days of the class date:
I will first try to schedule another date with you. If a mutually-agreeable date cannot be found your deposit will be refunded.
What You Need to Bring
You should bring the following with you to class:
1. Vise and tying tools (scissors, bobbin, dubbing needle, whip finisher)
2. Thread (3/0, 6/0, Size A in white)
3. Tying lamp (optional but useful)
What I Supply
I will provide the following:
1. Tying material (fur, feathers, hackle, etc.)
2. Hooks
For any class, you are welcome to bring something to eat if you'd like. There are also several subs/pizza shops nearby if you'd like to order something and have it delivered.
2008 Class Dates/Times
Weekday classes are held during the evening and Saturday classes usually during the day with a break for lunch (not provided in cost so bring your own sandwiches). Currently, the following dates/times are offered. Check this page or contact me regarding additional dates that may be added.
