This is the original Gurgler, first designed and tied by me in 1988. Since that time it's been hailed by many experts as one of the single best topwater flies you could ever tie onto the end of your leader. Since tying up the first Gurgler, I've made many variations, which you may view on this web site.

The term "original Gurgler" refers to the style I first tied it in, with the body and shell being made of a single piece of closed-shell foam (unlike the Double Gurgler, which uses two pieces). This Gurgler is tied on a regular or long shank hook, your choice.

When two colors are used in the description the first color refers to the color of the foam shell, the second to the color of the bucktail and /or the ribbing hackle.
