I tied the first Gurgler in 1988. Since then it's become one of the most popular surface flies in both in both fresh and salt water. The Gartside Gurgler has been praised by experts and novices alike for its versatility and effectiveness. Lefty Kreh named it as one of his favorite salt water flies of all time.
Inevitably, there have been take-offs. Some of these are sold in stores or via the internet using my name and implying that they are tied by me. Not so. I do not sell my Gurglers anywhere but on this site. This is the only source for the original Gartside Gurgler and its many variations personally tied by me.
